Free complementary moustache

10 things i like

Music, Ice-Cream, Fairytales, Badges, Cuppas, Acting Daft, Books (none of that Kindle shit), Myself, Old Films and Bedtime.

10 things i dislike

News, Dirty Toilets, Consumerism, Mould, Mini Cheddars, Spiders, War, Sexploitation, Maths and CGI.

For this collaboration I'm going to just take shit loads of photographs using film, this project doesn't feel like it needs much (if any) drawing. My drawing book is coming along, but to be honest I think it will just be experimenting with other ways of drawing and typography. Off to London Town next week, hope I don't sleep in, perhaps I should invest in an alarm clock.

Collaboration across the nation

I can't sit around doing nothing, so this is a self initiated drawing task for my collective. Basically, I start a drawing and the other people within my group add to it. Working with others isn't so bad, but when you don't have a say in it it doesn't always go as you'd like. I'm being negative about the whole thing, let's just see how it pans out.

All things considered

Despite having only done lino cutting once before, I endevoured to do it again, even though I knew it would result in injury. I must have sliced my fingers at least 30times, however I'm pleased with the results and it is actually quite theraputic doing it. This was a 3 week drawing project on the theme of transport. In parallel to this I also did some plaster cast of these lino cuts and also some prints.

Influence & Reflection 27/01/2011

Favourite photograph EVER!

To be honest this task is virtually impossible. Just like I can't pick a fovourite film, book or song, I can't pick one outstanding photo which I can call my favourite. Truman Capote is without a doubt one of the most amazing and beautiful writers that has ever put pen to paper. So I picked this photograph, everything within the picture expresses his creative and expressive personality. The image is stunning, rather than sticking with a plain background, it is filled puppets and maquettes- to me it resembles a dream-like state where creativity blossoms.

crikey!

It's hard being sexy and it's equally hard keeping up with a blog, but needs must, and words don't write themselves. Discovered an amazing website www.issuu.com, published some books on it I did. Anyway heres the link http://www.issuu.com/adamleejones. So far I've just done two books- poetry and something about moustaches. Going to scan my graphic novel and put that up too, it's helpful as it gives you an overview of what a physical book would look like. I really need to make a zine too, perhaps it's something which could manifest itself in the Collective project. Babylon!

8th January 2011

I seriously think I'm risking RSI writing 80-pages of text for this timeline, ah well, the stuff I've wrote makes me laugh so hopefully it'll make other people laugh too. Heres an example:

1933

In 1933 a man had a dream (no, not Martin Luther King) his name was Richard M. Hollingshead and his dream was to build a drive-in movie theatre. By combining his love of cars and his love of movies he achieved this dream. Nothing compares to the drive-in movie experience, not even siiting in by yourself with a tub of Haagen-Daaz crying about being dumped and watching a chick flick. We salute you Richard M. Hollingshead, no doubt many American teens have lost their virginity thanks to you. Now, time for me to combine my love of eating and my love of swimming...

Black Balloon

When I was 5 I was given a black balloon
We had matching smiles and matching faces
The bitter winter weakened its fragile frame upon my grasp
From a beautiful form came a horrid diseased creature
That black balloon changed while this one will forever remain
Farewell my black balloon...

All in a days work

Wrote my words or, if your posh, article for the Leeds-based zine The Debacle. I tell you, that poo lastnight didn't want to come out. I'm going to give it the nickname Collossus, if on the news they talk about a brown whale stranded in the River Thames, it won't be a frigging whale, it'll be my pal Collosus. I really need to give up the coffee, can't sleep lately, or when I do it isn't till silly o'clock.
